Delegated County Stormwater Management Program and Associated LDC Text Amendments (TX-2009-01)

The adoption of local stormwater regulations reflects a stated goal of the Henderson County 2020 Comprehensive Plan. This objective provides for local contacts and improved customer service for the development community. It also provides a local point of contact for the public regarding stormwater concerns.

The Board of Commissioners, at its meeting on October 5, 2009, directed County staff to draft stormwater management regulations which would allow for the delegation of a stormwater management program from the State of North Carolina. Following favorable recommendations by the Technical Review Committee and Planning Board, the Board of Commissioners considered the proposed text amendments at its February 1, 2010 meeting. At its meeting on March 1, 2010, the Board of Commisioners scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at 7:00 P.M. in the Board of Commissioners Meeting Room located in the Henderson County Historic Courthouse, at 1 Historic Courthouse Square, in Hendersonville, NC (See Text Amendment Request #TX-2009-01 Board of Commissioners Public Hearing Agenda Item).

The Board of Commissioners, at its May 20, 2010 approved the stormwater regulations, to become effective September 1, 2010, upon review and approval of the proposed text amendments by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources Division of Water Quality.

Additional materials and info will become available online prior to September 1, 2010. Please check back for new information. The Henderson County Engineering Department will administer the program beginning September 1, 2010.
